Gordon is a good friend and neighbor from Rangeley Plantation with whom we lost contact with when we moved “off the mountain “ in  2018.   Hildy, I promise to call!
Gordon was Mr. Bemis Road! He knew everyone, loved to entertain, cared deeply for well-being of the lake and its environs,  knew the area’s history from growing up summers around the lake.  Until recent years, he  cut and split his own firewood
from the 16 foot lengths delivered to his driveway! You could count on him to tell when to start feeding the “hummers” in the Spring. He and Hildy arranged for banding of hummers at his home.  I believe they had one that had returned for 5-6+ years. 
Always ready to help a neighbor,  Gordon  dug folks out of snow piles and had a can of spare gas. Best of all Gordon loved to talk politics and , leaning conservative, always had an insightful gem to impart.  You could always count on him to have some fun at the town meetings. 
Before he and Hildegard moved to Portland,  Gordon  was driving  80+ miles a couple of times a week for dialysis.   His heart is always in the Plantation . 


I met Gordon at dialysis. He sang God bless America on the bus ride.to and from dialysis. He was a special man. I will miss you.

So sorry to read about Mr Wrights passing. He was my science teacher at Niskayuna. Will never forget earth science and all those trays of rocks he made us identify. 
Was also surprised to learn he was only 10 years older than his students.
My prayers are with you all. 

Hildegard... I was so saddened to hear this news.  I hope many wonderful memories comfort you in the days ahead.  It was such a pleasure to get to know Gordon, and to get to work with him.  He provided many, many laughs, and even more fond memories.  He was a special man, and will surely be missed...  With great fondness, Katie Baker

Mr. Wright, you were the best math teacher I ever had. You always had an open door policy for me to come to your office for extra help. I’m glad that life treated you well.

Pleasant journeys going fishing ,Mr.Wright....

Gordon was very supportive and extremely helpful to me when I first joined NHS in January, 1971. The one characteristic of his that I enjoyed the most while working with him all the years was his understated sense of humor. Also, I very seldom saw him perturbed even under the most stressful circumstances. Dear, dear Gordon, may your soul rest in peace. With much affection,

So very sorry for your loss.  Mr. Wright was the class advisor for the NHS Class of 1967 and as a class officer I worked closely with him.  I also had him for 9th grade Earth Science.  Few teachers make a lasting impact on their students but Mr. Wright was certainly one who did.  He was a tough but fair teacher and always there for extra help.  As a class advisor he was incredibly helpful and very good about telling us which rules we MUST follow.
