

Helen Poulios passed quietly at her home surrounded by her family, after battling an aggressive illness. She was born in Manchester, NH. Her early years of her life were spent in Livadi, Greece with her family. She came back to the States, in 1945 to Portland, Maine. Helen was employed at the Puritan Tea Room, and Northeast Cold Storage. Helen was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, assisting with the annual festival and numerous other activities. She was also involved with the Portland Soup Kitchen for many years.
Her hobbies were baking and knitting. She enjoyed bowling, and was in a league. Helen loved to travel along with her sister and family, where they spent time in Greece, Spain, Russia, Israel and Switzerland.
She was predeceased by her parents; Demetrios and Annetta Poulios, brothers Alec, Costas, and Aristedes Poulios. She is survived by; Persephone Poulios of Portland, ME, Pluoto and Stacy Poulios of Rochester, NY Agamemnon and Giannina Poulios of Wappingers Falls, NY and numerous nieces , nephews, and cousins in the States and Greece.
Helen was a compassionate and giving person who was loved by all. Her generosity, love and care for her family and friends will be missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church o Portland Maine, in Helen’s name.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday May 19, 2013 from 2PM to 5PM at the Jones, Rich, and Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. The Trisagion prayers will be celebrated at 3:30PM on Sunday. Funeral services will be held on Monday May 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 133 Pleasant St. Portland, Maine with Father Constantine Sarantidis.
