

Jacqueline “Gammie, Gam, Jackie” Lacourse, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend; passed away on Wednesday March 31st, at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her family.
She was born in Eliot, Maine on July 18th 1927 to Bertram Tilton and Mildred Pinkham Tilton of Kittery, Maine. She graduated from Traip Academy and worked as a messenger for the Naval Yard in Portsmouth. One evening at a dance she met a young navy sailor who courted her until the following spring. The two were then married on May 11, 1945, and together, celebrated nearly 64 years of marriage.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her loving husband, James H. Lacourse of Scarborough, ME. Three sons; James (Jim) of Scarborough, ME, John (Jack) and wife, Theresa of Frenchville, ME, and Jeffrey (Jeff) and wife Fatiha of Scarborough, ME. Her eight grandchildren; James, Sherrin, Jessica, Michael, Jacqueline, Jennifer, Ryan and Lindsey and 13 great-grandchildren; Joey, Michael, Cameron, Jamie, Vanessa, Brandon, Dustin, Aidan, Seamus, Ivy, Kylie, Lukas, and Finnegan. Siblings; Barbra and husband Lawrence Estes of Kittery, ME and brother, Bert Tilton and wife Jean of Milton, NH.
She was preceded by her parents, and her sister Phyllis Patch.
Gam loved to travel, bake world-famous apple pies, play Bingo, spoil her grandchildren and most of all, spend time with her family and friends. The world won’t soon forget her infectious laughter, silly wit and always positive outlook on everything. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral home on 199 Woodford St. in Portland, ME on Sunday the 4th of April from 4-7:00 pm, with internment to follow on Monday the 5th of April at 10:00 at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetary, August, ME.
