

Portland/Boston-Jayson B. Nichols, age 31 of Melrose, Massachusetts passed away on Saturday, August 7th, 2010 after his hard fought battle with brain cancer. He was born in Portland, Maine on September 19, 1978.
Jay is a graduate of Scarborough High School and Marymount University in Virginia. He later worked as a paralegal in trademark law at Ropes & Gray in Boston. He enjoyed traveling and playing in community softball, kickball and dodge ball leagues. He was an active participant in the South Portland American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Most of all, Jay loved the Boston Red Sox.
Jay is survived by his mother Miriam Nichols, brother Wally E. Nichols, grandmother Mary R. Bickford (Gram), cousin/caregiver Karen Bickford and his beloved cat Zora. He is predeceased by his father Wallace B. Nichols, grandparents Arthur Bickford, Ellsworth and Gladys Nichols.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 12th from 4-7 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A Celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Friday, August 13th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in So. Portland.
