John Lemuel MacDonald

Portsmouth – John (Johnny) MacDonald, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026. John was born in Boston and grew up in Salem New Hampshire. He graduated from Salem High School and went on to a long career as a chef working at several restaurants and hotels. When he retired from being a chef, he worked at the LaFayette House in Portsmouth. He always enjoyed cooking as well as following the Boston Bruins. He was a quiet man and enjoyed spending time and keeping in touch with his family. He loved his dogs and had several Schnauzers over the years.

Johnny is survived by his brothers Ray of Portland, Oregon, Kevin (Nancy) MacDonald of Falmouth, ME, Brian (Pam) MacDonald of Raleigh, NC, and nephews Brad (Susan) MacDonald, Kyle MacDonald and Charlie MacDonald. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Theresa MacDonald and his brother Allen MacDonald. Johnny’s extended family lives across the United States and Canada.

Time of Visitation will be held at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland, Maine 04103, on July 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 268 Brown St, Westbrook, ME 04092, US, on July 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Blanchard Cemetery, Winn Rd, Falmouth, ME 04105, US, on July 8, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm.
