John was born in Farmington, MA until his family made Cape Elizabeth, ME their home. It is here that his parents, Philip and Jutta, created a warm, welcoming home filled with love. Their home was rich in family traditions and values that he later carried on to his own children. He graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1985. He and his older brother Pete and younger sister Gretchen shared many hours in the family business including Nappi’s Pizza.
Even as a young boy he had a strong, caring and bright spirit. His warmth was felt by anyone who crossed his path. He lived his whole life grounded in a kind, accepting and generous nature. These characteristics played out in every interaction he had.
He had a passion for life with endless adventures. Riding on his Harley, dancing, cooking for friends and family, weekend getaways, hunting, hiking, working on his home and honoring family traditions and would go to his parents house every Friday for homemade pizza night were just a few. Family is what he cherished above all else.
John spent most of his life as a business owner with his Dad. Nappi’s Pizza on Commercial Street in Portland being the most popular. Here he made a name for himself - his charming personality brought in the customers and built many lifelong connections and friendships.
John “semi-retired” to operate his business Nappi Home Repair using the skills that were taught to him by his Dad. John took pride in his work and his family. He and his dad worked endless hours together on projects side by side. He was his best friend.
John spent the last several years with his beloved partner Peggy Ouellette. They had a love like no other and enjoyed spending all their time together. They spent many happy hours remodeling their home in Springvale fulfilling a lifelong dream. Their lives were very full and included many great friends whom they loved and together they spent their holidays, special occasions and everything in between.
John was a happy and grateful man who loved life and all those around him. He was truly larger than life and loved captivating his audience. He leaves behind an entire village of relatives and friends that he has touched in his life.
