Joyce Claire (McCurdy) Dearborn, 91, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. Joyce was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada on December 15, 1932 to Edgar L. McCurdy and Bernice M. (Spinney) McCurdy. With her parents and younger brother Dana, Joyce moved to Bath, ME where she graduated from Morse High School, Class of 1950.
Through mutual friends, she met George D. Dearborn, and after a few months of commuting together to Portland, he popped the question and they married in 1962. After briefly living in Massachusetts, they settled in Cumberland, ME and raised their family.
Joyce was a member of the Cumberland Congregational Church, and with her children listened to her husband sing in the choir. She enjoyed hosting family and friends in her home, especially Christmas Eve between church services and after Downeasters Chorus shows.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband George. She is survived by her brother Dr. Dana L. McCurdy and his wife Elizabeth "Dinny" (Waterhouse) McCurdy and their sons David and Scott; her daughter Diana and her husband Timothy Strano; her son Steven, his wife Nancy and their daughters and grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews and dear friends from Bath, Cumberland, Park Danforth, Clark's Terrace, Cape Memory Care, and a far!
Joyce and George will be interred together later this year.
In lieu of flowers, put on something pink (her favorite color) and sing your favorite song . . . really loud, and smile. She'll hear you and smile back.
