Judith Edes Dupee, 66, passed away at her home on April 10, 2010 after a long period of declining health due to complications from COPD. Born in Portland on March 24, 1944, Judy was the daughter of Norman S. and Eleanor L. Edes, now deceased.
Judy graduated from Deering High School in 1962 and was then employed by New England Telephone Co. for a time before moving to the Boston area. She worked as an office manager for Vorlander Lighting, until meeting her husband Brad. After marrying and moving to Concord, NH during the early years of their marriage, Judy worked for Nathan Wechsler, CPA, until moving back to her favorite place in the world, Greater Portland. In 1975, Judy discovered her interest in real estate and began a 35 year career in helping families relocate. She worked with Mark Stimson Real Estate for 18 years, until given the opportunity to work with Ernest Whitehouse, who was owner of the local Coldwell Banker Harnden Beecher offices, where Judy oversaw the operation of Maine Relocation Services, Inc., which assisted corporate clients moving to Maine from all over the world. She joined Keller Williams Real Estate when they opened in Greater Portland and remained there, working in partnership with husband Brad as “The Dupee Team”, until no longer able to continue.
She wanted to thank all of her clients for accepting the help and assistance she so loved to offer. Her special forte was promoting Greater Portland as the wonderful place it is. Her only regret was not having time to maintain lifelong relationships with all the fabulous people she met during her career. In addition to her clients, she enjoyed the interaction with all others in the local real estate community and admired and respected the quality, honesty and sincerity of those working in the industry.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, Bradley S. Dupee and their children as follows: Son Bradley S. Dupee, Jr., daughter-in-law Amy M. Dupee, granddaughters Madison and Laine, and grandson Chase, of Superior, CO.; Daughter Robin D. Letarte, son-in-law Bryan P. Letarte, granddaughter Emma and grandson Samuel, of Scarborough, ME; Son Eric N. Dupee, daughter-in-law Erin P. Dupee, and grandsons Garrett and Caleb, of Old Orchard Beach, ME. She is also survived by a brother, Wayne N. Edes and sister-in-law Dorothy of Kennebunk, ME and several nephews, aunts and cousins.
Also surviving Judy is a long list of the most extraordinary friendships, many of which began as early as primary school, others lasting for 40 years or more. It would be impossible to duplicate these treasured friends, who added so much to her life.
