Portland- Judith I. Gowen, 71, of Pine Street, was taken by our lord and angels on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She was born in Portland on March 20, 1944, a daughter of Everett E. and Minnie Irene (Miller) Horr. She attended Portland schools, USM and SMCC , graduating with a BS in Nursing. Judith went on to become a RN, working for MMC in Portland for many years before continuing her nursing career at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough. Judith was happy and uplifting to everyone she was around. Her aura could light up a room. She could heal you with her words and open arms. Judith loved music, gardening, butterflies and cats as well as her family and her faith.
Judith was pre-deceased by three children, Colleen M. (Woodbuy) Garneau, Steven P. Gowen and Laurence A. Dean, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna S. Gowen of Saco; a brother, Robert E. Horr of Portland; a cousin she referred to as “Sis”, Donna Marchette of Utah; niece, Rebecca Horr of MA; nephew, Corey Horr of Portland; grandchildren, Melissa Paquette of NH, Jonathan Woodbury of Windham, Justin Woodbury of Poland, Edward C. Croy of Windham and Matthew R. Tracy of Saco. Judith is also survived by several great-grandchildren and a legion of wonderful devoted friends who will miss her immensely.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St. Portland. A Celebration of Life will follow 50 Lydia Lane in South Portland.
