November 22, 1955 – October 11, 2025
Judith Ann Rosell–Sawyers, beloved wife, caregiver, and devoted servant to others, passed away peacefully after a life dedicated to compassion and care. She was born on November 22, 1955, at 9:02 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, to Harold Theopolis Rosell and Betty Jane Rickabaugh-Rosell.
From an early age, Judith demonstrated a profound calling to help others. After graduating high school, she began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for the elderly. Her desire to serve led her into the U.S. Army, where she served honorably as a combat medic and clinical nurse. Judith continued this work as an Emergency Medical Technician, both in ambulances and emergency rooms, offering critical care in people’s most urgent moments.
Despite her many roles in the medical field, Judith’s heart remained with the elderly. She spent many years working almost exclusively in Alzheimer’s wards, offering dignity, patience, and deep compassion to those living with memory loss. Her quiet strength and gentle demeanor touched countless lives—patients, families, and coworkers alike.
Judith was a woman of deep faith, a practicing Catholic who, while not affiliated with a specific parish, found strength in her spiritual beliefs. A private mass was held in her honor prior to cremation at the funeral home chapel.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Milton L. Sawyers of Portland, Maine. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, loyalty, and shared purpose.
In life, Judith possessed a rare gift: strangers would often open up to her unprompted, sharing their life stories, burdens, and pain. She listened with compassion, never judging, always understanding. Many lives were likely saved simply because Judith was there, offering kindness when it was needed most.
Judith Ann Rosell–Sawyers will eventually be laid to rest in a veterans cemetery beside her husband. She lived a life of humble service, never seeking recognition—only striving to help others, one person at a time.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering dedication, quiet heroism, and gentle soul.
