

Born July 4, 1911, in Richmond, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Elva L. Griffin.
Having lived most of her life in Portland, she attended Richmond Schools and graduated from South Portland High School and the Portland Maine School of Commerce. Her first position was with the Works Progress Administration (WPA) under John C. Fitzgerald, Administrator, as an assistant secretary and did other work as needed. She worked for Marcus Pero, Certified Public Accountant as secretary and typist for the annual financial statements of his many customers throughout Maine. There were no computers in those days and Mr. Pero was a man who wanted perfection and no erasures. It was one of her most interesting jobs.
Julia retired from the Maine National Bank as Trust Principal Supervisor of the Trust Department.
She was a former member of Glenwood Square Baptist Church and served on the Investment Committee, Missions. She was also a member of the Ladies prayer and Bible Study group and the Home Bible Study group.
For 61 years, she was a member of the Maine Woman’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), serving on the Governing Board, the Dow Memorial Board, and was President and Treasurer of the Portland WCTU Branch.
Julia was a member and director of the Pro Life Education, a member of Guardians of Education (GEM), Maine Christian Civic League, Eagle Forum and the American Association of Retired People.
Her husband, Roland “Pat” Beaumier, of 45 years, died in February 1983.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and grand and great grandnieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Monday, May 9, 2011 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland.
Funeral services will be held 10a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Drake officiating.
Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park Portland.
