

Kanyundo P. Butera, 77, died on October 05, 2013 at Gosnell hospice in Scarborough, ME. He was born on January 01, 1936, in Cyangungu, a son of Francois Kampayana and Kamanzi Languida. He was a bar tender in Bukava and Kinshasha (congo DRC). He worked at the Belgium Embassy in Kinshasha. He was a volunteer at the Cathedral Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland, ME. Kanyundo was predeceased by wife Claudine Batshondo. He is survived by one sister Marthe Mukarugema and ten children: Oremus Butera, Emmanuel Butera, Magnifique Butera, Boniface Butera, Gatera Butera, Michel Butera, Sibomane Butera, Suzy Butera, Freddy Butera, and Ria Butera. Inlaws: Noel Malonda, Bertin Kimfila, Delice Kumbuka, Honorine Ngenga and Omar Rachid "salima" Kanyundo is also survived by eighteen grandchildren: Luissette Butera, Olga Matsuela, Eric Malonda, Christel Batshondo, Jean Claude Nzeza, Orianne Butera, Obed Karege, Kampayana Nzeza, Kevin Malonda, Oceanne Butera, Charlene Nzeza, Berzy Bertin, Michel Nzeza, Claudine Ruganera, Aaron Butera, Obert Bertin, Providence Butera, Ismael Butera and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Visiting hours are on Friday October 11, 2013 at Jones, Rich, & Hutchins Funeral Home on 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME 04103 from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Portland, ME on Saturday October 12, 2013.
