

Kevin was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to parents Bernice Kendall and Everett Keen. He attended Cherry Hill New Jersey Schools. As a student, Kevin excelled academically and was a talented trumpet player. With ROTC scholarships, he attended and graduated from Vanderbilt University and Case Western Medical School. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Maine Medical Center.
Kevin served in the Air Force where he attained the rank of Major, serving as the Director of Emergency Services for Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. For many years thereafter, he worked as an emergency physician at Central Maine Health Care. He was also medical director for Lifeflight of Maine. Throughout his career, Kevin was committed to improving prehospital care in Maine. He served tirelessly as medical director for numerous fire departments and pre-hospital emergency service provider organizations.
Kevin married Kathy Kendall and had a son, Evan, who he cared deeply about whether through supporting and encouraging his education and extracurricular endeavors or through many shared trips and meals together. Kevin volunteered for the Freeport Fire Department and the Freeport Cub Scouts. He enjoyed the outdoors whether through traveling abroad, fishing in the Alaskan rivers and Maine lakes, or admiring his garden and birds. He also loved his many cats.
Kevin is survived by his only son Evan Kendall, his cousin David Kroelinger and wife Laura, and nephew Brandon Kroelinger. He also had many special friends throughout his life including Joan Gorman and many others in the medical and EMS communities.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Freeport Fire Department on Thursday, June 26th from 4 pm - 7 pm. Formal remarks will begin at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifeflight of Maine or the Midcoast Humane Society.
