Bridgton – Kevin Mark York, 66, of Bridgton, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2025. Born on August 8, 1958, in Portland, Maine, he was the son of Ace and Georgette (Roy) York. Kevin spent most of his life in Yarmouth, where his family settled in the 1970s in a small brown house on Mountfort Road that would become their forever home. Growing up there, Kevin shared many cherished memories with his siblings, and he often fondly reminisced about their childhood pets and his father’s concrete foundation business. Together with his father and brother, Kevin helped pour the foundations for many homes in Yarmouth, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.
Kevin’s journey in life led him to meet his wife, Teresa, one evening at Happy Wheels, sparking a love that would shape their future. The couple enjoyed many dates at Happy Wheels and the Westport Bowling Alley in Westbrook. After they married, they built a home not far from those special places, in Portland, Maine, where they raised their children over the span of more than two decades. Kevin’s love for his family was immeasurable, and he dedicated his life to them with a kind and gentle spirit.
Though he lived in Portland, Kevin never lost his connection to Yarmouth. For nearly a decade, he worked as a heavy-duty mechanic for the Town of Yarmouth Public Works. Kevin was a true craftsman and a hardworking man, whether he was repairing vehicles at work, helping a friend with a project, fixing plumbing issues, or woodworking in his basement. He possessed many talents and was always ready to lend a hand, often teaching others along the way. Kevin’s ability to fix nearly anything was legendary, and his warmth, generosity, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Ace York.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa York; children, Jessica Hatt and her husband Christopher, and their children Alaina and Isaac; Christina York and her children, Chase Gladstone and Ella Bousquet; Kevin York; stepdaughter Jennifer Crooks and her husband Christopher, and their children Shaelea and Aidan Crooks; his mother, Georgette York; and his siblings, Temple Arey, Cyndy York Camire, and John York.
Kevin’s big heart and his many gifts will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be missed deeply.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 4-6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Pius X Church, 492 Ocean Ave, Portland.
