After working in the potato fields as a young man in Patten, he enlisted in the army serving in Germany. He enjoyed reading, especially books on programming, self improvement, metaphysics, religion, politics, finance and investment. He also loved animals, especially poodles, and loved time spent with his family. After his retirement in 1998, He enjoyed many happy memories with his extended family at Cochnewagon Lake in Monmouth. He enjoyed the Maine Mall, watching movies and eating at his favorite restaurant IHOP.
