Portland- Lois Eastman went to be with her Lord and Savior at Fallbrook Commons on August 9, 2025, at 98 years old. She was born at home in Portland at the stroke of midnight on December 14, 1926, to Enos and Olga Johnson. The night was bitter cold, so she was wrapped in cotton and placed in a clothes basket behind a kitchen oil stove. A year later her brother Phil was born and then her beloved sister Murial. She had fond memories of her Scandinavian relatives, numerous aunts and uncles who had immigrated from Norway and Sweden. Many played musical instruments and often loved to sing Christian hymns when they got together. This resulted in a lifelong love of hymns. She had great memories of summer days spent at relative’s cottages at Pettingill Pond. She had many close friendships. The birthday girls would get together to celebrate each other’s birthdays. This monthly ritual lasted for over 60 years. She loved to host meals for her family and friends. Later in life she married Noice Eastman. He was the former husband of one of her best friends, Barbara Eastman, who had passed away from cancer. With this marriage she became a stepmother to two lovely young girls, Doreen and Julie. Lois adored Noice and shared 34 happy years with him. He passed away in 2011. Lois lived for several years in Ashton Garden. With a need for more care, her next home was Fallbrook Woods and finally Fallbrook Commons. We appreciated the loving care and support provided by the staff and nurses at all three facilities. For many years she was a faithful member of the Payson Park Evangelical Free Church and later the First Baptist Church. Her grandchildren fondly remember her love of chocolate and her capturing family moments in audio recordings or on camera and her deep faith.
Her oldest daughter Doreen passed away in 2022.
She is survived by her other daughter Julie and her husband David and Doreen’s husband Harry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Fuller, Johnathan Weeks, Lisa Beeler (Mike), Ryan Heller (Aubrey), and Brittany Pond (John), and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephews, Doug and Larry Frank and niece Colleen Cerak. She joyfully looked forward to being reunited with her loving departed family and her beloved husband in heaven.
Family and friends are invited to attend Lois’ Homegoing service on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 360 Canco Rd. Portland. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Westbrook.
