Gorham 1930 - 2022
Louise was born to Llewelyn and Maude M (Grace) Lyman. She attended schools in South Portland, graduating from South Portland High School with the class of 1948. After graduating from Northeast Business College in 1950 Louise started a career with New England Telephone/Verizon as a switchboard operator. Having worked in several departments, she retired as Maine State Network Manager after 35 years of service with a company she loved. In her younger years Louise served in the Coast Guard Reserve for 4 years. Louise traveled often after retirement, especially to Hawaii, where she stayed with wonderful friends year after year.
There were no siblings, and she never married, or had children. Therefore she spent many good times with friends she had made along her journey through life, and with her many cousins and extended family.
Louise possessed a giving spirit, donating annually to many local and national organizations which focused on music and children. Throughout her life she was a positive influence to everyone around her. She loved life and never complained.
Special thanks to her family of caregivers at Gorham House and Beacon Hospice for their many hours of attention and those special “Hot Fudge Sundaes” she asked for daily. Dear Louise, your grace will be missed! Louise was predeceased by her parents and many of her close friends. She leaves behind many cousins who will remember her fondly for the loving person that was “Louise”.
A memorial service will be held for Louise on October 26, 2022 at Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland, Maine from 3 PM- 5 PM.
