

Madeline “Maddie” Stasium, 13, passed away peacefully March 28, 2011 at Children’s Hospital Boston. Maddie was born in Portland, ME August 31, 1997 daughter of Mark and Susan (Amendolare) Stasium.
Maddie was beautiful, smart, persistent, trusting, loyal and one of the funniest people we know. She was more likely to put an imaginary curse on you than to hug you, but you would be proud to call her “Friend.”
Maddie was very active. She loved to swim and she skied with Maine Handicapped Skiing, played baseball with Deering Little League, danced at Maine State Ballet and participated in gymnastics at Cumberland County Gymnastics Center. She loved movies.
Maddie attended Hall Elementary and Lincoln Middle Schools. She was a communicant and altar server at St. Patrick’s Parish.
Maddie is survived by her loving family, including her mom and dad, Mark and Susan, her brothers, Nick and Ben, her maternal grandparents, Ann and Joseph Amendolare of Quincy, MA, her paternal grandparents, Eileen and Ira Lisook of Milton, MA, her aunts and uncles, John and Jennifer Amendolare of Quincy MA, Thom and Nancy McLaughlin of Quincy, MA and Jane and Joe Foley of Braintree, MA. Also surviving are seven cousins and her many friends and classmates.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 3-6 PM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. in Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1342 Congress St., Portland. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery 672 Stevens Ave, Portland. A reception will follow at the Portland Country Club in Falmouth.
