MOM'S POEM FOR MALCOLM
A Tribute TO Malcolm's Love 
of the Mountains!

I know a mountain that holds a river in it's arms,
Whose mother breast keeps tender,wee,slender birches warm!
I know a mountain crowned with laurel,pink and white,
That gleams a friendly shadow against the velvet night!
Whose mighty song the wind gods catch 
and blow a-down the world,
Whose hearty breath is caught in tears
To see the fern fronds curled!
Whose love leaps swift and sure of foot
Down countless moss-grown trails!
Whose patient trees uphold the snow,
Whose springtime never fails!
I know a mountain that holds communion with the stars,
Recieves the thrust of centuries,
And blooms to hide its scars!
Oh! May I,like my mountains,with faith serene and high,
Conceal my wounds with blossoming against whatever sky!

It's been a year since you quietly slipped away, but it seems like an eternity.  Still miss those "Hey, whatta ya doin" phone calls.  Wish you could have seen Sarah hiking, both summer and snowshoeing in Winter,plus Jen on snowshoes and Liam cross-country skiing. You would be "bustin" your buttons!!

Reflections in life bring me back to the day we set out on a climb up Tuckerman Ravine.  We knew it was going to be an amazing day but who could have known that amazing would be redefined.  We took off from Portland in the Pontiac Grand Am and set out on a 12 hour hike in New Hampshire.  Twenty minutes in we came across an amazing waterfall tucked into the shadows of the great mountain of the north.  Once we reached the bottom of the ravine we were inspired by the view and the journey that lied ahead.  Who would have thought that there would be a 25ft glacier of ice that stretched for a 1/4 mile in the middle of the ravine on a nice summer day - standing with you under the glacier (literally) was pretty cool.  As we climbed further up the ravine and reached the headwall, we where further inspired by the view above and below as the clouds went through us as they dived into the mountain from the sky above.  On our climb to the summit over 1000's of rocks we were able relish in the thought of standing on top of the peak.  When we reached the summit we celebrated our accomplishment and our excitement grew knowing that our journey was only half over.  I had an opportunity to walk beside Malcolm for only a brief moment in life, the memories we made and the friendship we endured helped make me the man I am today.  It's with honor that I think of you and the lives you touched.  My heartfelt blessings go out to you, Cindy & Chris and all your loved ones who like me shared a moment in life with you.

My sincerest condolences go out to the Blodgett family.  I had the sheer honor of meeting and working with Malcolm at F. Parker Reidy's in the mid 90's.  Working with him was always the best!  He always made work fun even when it was a drag.  I'll never forget his "Nantucket Sleighride" soup and "Pilgrim Spices".   I have him to thank for introducing me to iced-coffee and turning me onto The Ramones.  I'll always remember him for his jokes and all the great times we had in and out of work and I will  never forget him calling me and everyone dude.  That was the ultimate compliment!

Malcolm was one of those guys who treated everyone with great kindness. I got the oppurtunuty to close many nights with Malcolm and I can say one thing Dude you always made my night. Rest In peace Malcolm this world will not be the same without you. Cindy my thoughts and Prayers will always be with you..

To all that have written about Malcolm please accept my heartfelt Thanks. Malcolm was the Love of My Life and it is nice to read so many heartfelt things about him from everyone.  Seeing your entries has helped me through this process as I am sure it has his Mom, Nance, Linda and David{monkey} a he is known to most.

God bless Malcom Blodgett. I have known Malcom for 4 years or so. Malcom was the greatest man I've ever known always had a smile on his face, he was always willing to give the shirt off his back, we worked together and he made the work place such a great place to be. Though I did not know you to well Malcom you will always be in my heart. Please rest knowing you are loved so much by so many. Its not the same without you "DUDE!"

For all of the many great memories of Malcolm that will never fade, I am truly thankful. Everyone should be as fortunate as I was to have grown up with someone with the personality and generous heart that Malcolm has. My prayers go out to Cindy, Cynthia, Nancy, Linda, and David and all of your family. Bob Seger sums it up for me, "These are the memories that make me a wealthy man". Malcolm was also one of my teen friends; he gave me a place to stay and a fair amount of nonjudgemental guidance.  Such fond memories Malcolm.... Now that you're beginning another chapter in your journey, best wishes.  One thing I know for sure....you're in good company.  Until we meet again :)

Am sorry to hear of this untimely passing but know that the Lord is in control. I was one of Malcolm's babysitters when he lived on Kearsarge St in North Conway across from the baptist parsonage. My Dad was the Baptist pastor and the Blodgett family attended the church.
We will keep you in our prayers as you go thru this trying time.May you feel the hands of the Lord around you. 
We are now living in Edinburg ,Va near our daughter,Rebecca & family. Our son Mark & his family live in Australia and are missionaries there. we are great grandparents to Josiah who also lives in Australia.

Very sad to hear of Malcolm's illness and passing. He was one of my little league players "back when". He was, to put it mildly, one of the softspoken ones; I don't think he ever said five words a game, just did his job. I have nothing but fond memories of Malcolm. My sincere condolences to his entire family.

So Sorry to hear about the sad news. Malcolm was such a kind man. He always smiled and was always nice. He will deff be missed by many people. I will never forget when he called work before to talk to Cindy and I answered and I just stood there talking to him for a bit Cindy always calls me her "adopted daughter" so I told him I was his "adopted daughter" he just laughed and said that was fine. Last thing he said was by "daughter" I laughed he deff put a smile on my face. Malcolm You will be missed dearly. Prayers out to the family and Cindy.

Cindy, Stephen and I are sorry to hear about your loss. Malcolm will be missed by many. Stephen always remembers the first time he met him, Malcolm was out in the yard and Stephen went through the woods to introduce himself, after that time when Malcolm would see Stephen at Hannafords he would always say here comes my neighbor through the woods to say hello. It is difficult to let go of the ones we love, however, we know that Malcolm isn't suffering anymore. May GOD give you the strength needed during this most difficult time. I'm sorry to hear of Malcolm's passing.  I knew him from grade school.  He was a good guy. My condolences to his family and friends.

Since Malcolm first came to work at Gardiner Hannford, we hit it off right away.  First,  for his weird sense of humor, second, because we were both big Celtcs fans.  All basketball season I looked forward to coming to work and complaining with Malcolm about the games.  I'll miss all our talks about the Celtics, but most of all I'll miss his smiling face.  My deepest sympathies to his wife Cindy and the rest of his family.  We've all lost someone special, but he'll live on forever in our hearts.  May God bless you all during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working with Malcome, shearing some great jokes, and talks of sports. Malcome was one of those people who when you saw him you knew that things where going to be fun and entertaining, because no matter your mood Malcome could just make you laugh with his trademark comments like "Unbelieveable" and "Your Killing Me." Malcome treated everyone with kindness and respect and will be truely missed by all who loved him. My thoughts go out to his wife and my co-worker Cindy and all his family and friends. We Have Really Lost One Of The Good Ones.
