

28, 2011. Margaret was born in Hallowell, ME on October 18, 1916, the daughter of the late
Arthur and Evie (Beane) Miner.
Margaret attended Hallowell Schools and graduated from Hallowell High School. She loved
playing basketball and was on the high school Maine championship team her junior year.
In 1937 she married George "Biff" Joseph. They had two children, Gary and Gail. Margaret was
a communicate of St. Joseph's Maronite Church in Waterville. She was a member of the Rosary
Sodality and Elks Auxiliary. She and her friends from church formed a sewing club, enjoying the
fellowship, chatting, eating, sewing or knitting. For many years she worked at several local
restaurants. She was a fabulous wife and mother. She was a great cook and loved traveling,
reading knitting and spending winters in Florida with her husband. Even though she was a fulltime
working mom, she always made time to attend all of Gary and Gail's after school events.
She is predeceased by her husband, George "Biff" Joseph and her son, Gary Joseph.
She is survived by and will be terribly missed by her daughter, Gail Guthrie and her husband
Steve; granddaughters, Elizabeth Adams and her husband Jon, Catherine Castillo and her
husband Steve, Cynthia McLaughlin and husband Dennis - all of PA, Lisa Ricker and her husband
Dana of Scarborough, Cheryl Fotter and her husband Jeff of Gorham; fourteen great
grandchildren; half brother, Archie Miner and his wife Monique of Augusta.
The family of Margaret Joseph would like to give their sincere thanks to the staff of the Village
Crossing of Cape Elizabeth and The Monarch Center of Saco for their caring and devotion. A
special thanks to the nurses, volunteers and clergy from the Beacon Hospice for the care and
love shown Margaret during her last months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's
Maronite Church, 3 Appleton Street Waterville, ME 04901. lnterment will be in the Spring.
