Standish – Margaret M. Mandeville, 82 of Standish Maine passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Portland Me. She was born May 2, 1939 in Norwood MA. She was the daughter of Leo and Katherine Welch.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Thomas Mandeville who passed away in 2009. She is survived by her four children, Lynda Albert and her husband Michael of Lebanon CT, Mark Mandeville and his wife Judy of Surfside Beach SC, Scott Mandeville and his wife Shauna of Standish ME, and Lisa Sweeney and her husband Kevin of Summerville SC. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Keith and Cory Albert of CT, Jessica, Kelly and Stacey Mandeville and Kristy Thomas of PA, Wade and Nathan Mandeville of ME, and Logan and Ella Sweeney of SC. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and her brother Leo Welch of Brighton MA.
Just out of High School Margaret worked as a keypunch operator for the phone company. She met the love of her life, Tom, when she was just a teenager. Thomas went off to serve his country in the US Marine Corp for 3 years. When he returned they were married in 1960 in Brighton MA. In 1965, they moved to Manchester CT, where they lovingly raised their 4 children. Margaret enjoyed many summer vacations with her family at Sebago Lake in Maine, where many cherished memories were made. She and Tom moved to Maine to retire in 2005. Her determination, never to be outdone, Margaret obtained her first driver’s license at the youthful age of 72. Her smile, quick wit and beautiful blue eyes will be engrained with us forever. We will miss her dearly.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Margaret on Monday, January 3, 2022, from 4-6pm at Jones Rich and Barnes funeral home, 199 Woodford St, Portland, ME 04103. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 10am at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St, Portland, ME 04101.
Interment will take place in the Spring of 2022 at St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery, Westbrook, ME.
