Mary A. Ricchio Guidry

Portland- Mary A. (Ricchio) Guidry, 86, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday March 13, 2013. The daughter of Joseph and Lucia (Orlando) Ricchio, she was born in Portland on June 15, 1926. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School. After graduation she worked for the Portland Police Department. During this time she met Andrew Guidry and the two were later married. Mary eventually took a job at the social security administration where she worked for several years. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital for 10 years. She was a long time member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and was also a member of St. Peter’s Sacred Heart Sodality and FRA-Ladies Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew of 47 ½ years, two sisters, Philomena and Josephine, and a brother Samuel. She is survived by her sister Helen Pitts of South Portland, a sister-in-law Phyllis Ricchio and a brother-in-law Thomas Caron of Portland and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. Funeral Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Monday March 18, 2013 at 9:15 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., Portland with Father Louis Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Donations can be made in Mary’s memory to Mercy Palliative Care c/o Development Office, 144 State Street, Portland ME 04101.
