

PORTLAND Mildred “Millie” Airadne McCann Kellam Foss, 91, passed away October 22, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence in Portland.
Mildred, one of ten children, was born in Lubec on April 7, 1925 to John and Hattie Dinsmore McCann. She graduated from Lubec High School as Salutatorian in 1943 before moving to Portland.
Mildred lived in Portland and Scarborough raising six children until moving to Yarmouth in 1974. In Scarborough Mildred worked at Hillson’s Market, at Foley’s Ice Cream, and at Humpty Dumpty Potato Chip Company. In Portland she worked at Maine Medical Center as delivery room and nursery tech for several years.
She retired from Fairchild Semiconductor in 1987. She moved from Yarmouth to Fallbrook Woods in Portland in May 2007 and resided there until August 2014 when she moved to St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence.
She enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod, Florida, Texas, New York, and Oregon to visit relatives. Her favorite hobbies were knitting, crocheting, photography, gardening and reading. She was well known in Yarmouth as the lady who loved to talk to and take pictures of the dogs, babies, and residents she met on her daily walks.
Mildred is predeceased by her ex-husbands Richard Kellam and Gordon Foss; sisters Thelma, Beulah, Arlene, Leonice, Glennis, and Geraldine; brothers Frank and Floyd; and grandchild Craig.
Mildred is survived by two daughters: Donna Park and husband Peter of Stockton Springs, ME and Susan Nadeau of Portland, OR.; four sons: Craig Kellam and John Kellam and wife Maureen of South Portland, ME., Gordon Foss, Jr. of Gray, ME., and Walter Foss of Falmouth, ME. She is also survived by her sister Lucy Smith of Mechanicsville, VA., 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday October 27, 2016 at 1pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins 199 Woodford Street Portland with a catered reception to follow. Burial is scheduled for Saturday October 29, 2016 at 10am at Brooklawn Memorial Park 2002 Congress Street Portland.
