She was a beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her partner, James Waugh; children, Kimberley Greeley Brown, Jay and SuzAnne Brown, Joel and Helena Richardson, Amy Booth; her grandchildren Becky, Chelsea, Netta and Mikha Brown, Isabelle Bonney , Luke and Jill Booth, Janae and Forest Richardson; and three great-grandchildren, William, Olivia and Ava.
Nancy attended Deering High School and was voted friendliest her senior year. She attended Defiance College and University of Maine at Orono. She was a compassionate social worker for many years, and was instrumental in researching the criminal code for Penn State University. After her traditional career ended she focused on her beloved arts. She was a respected jeweler, painter and poet. She knit very progressive pieces using interesting yarns. Nancy loved to learn, she attended various art and jewelry classes and was a voracious reader. Nancy was a lover of animals rescuing many dogs. She loved writing and reciting poetry, playing scrabble, music and won several dance contests. She was known to play a few hands of penny poker. Nancy volunteered at the Portland Museum of Art as a Docent, The Animal Refuge League of Sarasota Florida, and Trinity Episcopal Church. She illustrated a cookbook and a children’s bible.

Friends and family are invited to a brief memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Evergreen Cemetery, 672 Stevens Avenue, Portland, ME, followed by a reception at the Cumberland Club, 116 High Street, Portland, ME
