He lived his whole life on Cliff Island in Casco Bay and graduated from Portland High School in 1951. In 1952, Norman joined the Navy with his main focus being to save enough money to buy a lobster boat. After being honorable discharged he did just that, although the boat needed some major repairs. Norman’s father who was a local boat builder handled all the repairs making the boat sea worthy. Norman spent the rest of his life as a lobsterman, also harvesting scallops and herring. After 63 years, he was still out tending to over 600 traps until his illness.
Norman will be remembered as a kind, humble, honest and hardworking man that will be missed by many year round and seasonal residents of Cliff Island, as well as many friends. Norman enjoyed his time lobstering and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam Anderson, son Todd and his wife Bonnie, son Eric and his wife Piper, and grandchildren Evan, Brooke, Edward, and Fiona.
