Born in 1929 to Edward and Percie(Snow)Bragg, Polly grew up in Gray and Falmouth, graduating from Falmouth High School in 1947. Following graduation, she worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph.
Polly’s family owned and operated the Snow House in the center of Gray Village. Her mother noticed a handsome young man working at the gas station across the street and learned he was staying in town, playing for a local baseball team. She played matchmaker and the rest was history. Polly married Reginald E. Hall at the Snow House in 1951. They eventually settled in Cape Elizabeth where they raised their three children; Jim, Sally, and John. In the early 60s, Polly and Reg bought a summer camp on Little Sebago Lake, which became the heart of family life, where countless family reunions, celebrations, and cherished memories were made. They enjoyed traveling together and spent many winters at their condo on Marco Island before returning to their beloved lake house on Loon Lane year-round. Following Reggie’s passing in 2016, Polly reluctantly agreed to move to a less- remote location and chose Stroudwater Lodge to be her new home. She was thrilled when she was greeted by Connie and Bernie, who were classmates of Reggie’s at Westbrook High School. Her family will forever be grateful for the wonderful life she enjoyed at Stroudwater Lodge. Her life there was filled with companionship, laughter, and community. Polly, Connie and Bernie thoroughly enjoyed each other's company at meals, concerts, bingo, and playing rummikub together. Many of the staff were like family to Polly, she remembered their birthdays and kept a candy bowl full for them. The care she received at Stroudwater Lodge was exceptional.
Polly was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2024. She chose not to know her prognosis, but to live whatever time she had left to the fullest. She often commented, “I don’t know why I’m still here, but I’ll enjoy it while I am” and she did.
Polly was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sister, Marjorie (Bragg)Stimson. She is survived by her children, James(Miyo)Hall, Sally(Rick)Barker, and John Hall; Grandchildren Ashley(Scott)Walker and Thomas(Martha Pulsifer)Barker; Great Granddaughters Peyton and Lyla Walker, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Polly leaves behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and simple wisdom. She will be sorely missed.
