

Pricella King Hillock Gowell, 97, of Scarborough, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, creativity, and deep devotion to her family and community.
Born in Portland, Maine, Pricella lived a long and meaningful life defined by kindness, strength, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved. She carried herself with quiet grace, class, a generous but spunky spirit, and always placing family at the heart of everything she did. Through nearly a century of life, she witnessed remarkable change, yet remained grounded in compassion, faith, and genuine connection.
A true matriarch, Pricella was the heart of her family. Her home and kitchen table were always the center of gatherings, holidays, and special occasions, a place filled with warmth, laughter, and tradition. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She deeply loved her two children, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who brought her immense pride and joy.
Pricella was an active and devoted member of the Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church in Westbrook, Maine, where her faith and sense of community were an important part of her life. She found comfort in fellowship and service among her church community.
She was widely known for her creativity and artistic eye. Pricella made a living decorating beautiful wedding cakes, bringing joy to countless celebrations with her talent and attention to detail. She also loved painting and fashion, always expressing her creativity through color, style, and imagination.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy King Tayman and her husband, Richard Tayman of Oxford, Maine; her granddaughter, Alicia Depatsy and her fiancé, David Jackson, of Portland, Maine; her granddaughter, Sarah Taylor and Dean Mouradian of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her grandson, Michael Tayman and Dori Griffith of Oxford, Maine; her grandson, Michael King and Darcy Dyer of Bridgeton, Maine; and daughter-in-law, Dale King and Patrick Reidman of Harrison, Maine. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren: Jenna Tayman, Danielle Gladu, Nikko Depatsy, Luka Depatsy, Rocco Depatsy, Addie Taylor, and Mya King; and one great-great grandchild, Stella along with extended family and friends. She is also survived by her husband, John Gowell.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry King Sr. and William Hillock; her son, Harry A. King Jr. (Butch) and his wife, Gayle King; and her grandson, Richard Tayman Jr.
The family will be forever grateful for her devoted caregiver, Sebrina — thank you for your compassion, care, and kindness.
Funeral services and a celebration of life will be held for the family in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to HART of Maine Animal Rescue Team (HARTOFMAINE.org) in recognition of her lifelong love of animals.
