Becky's mom Ms. Ethel watched me when I was a kid after my family first moved to Maryland in 1984 and until I began latch-keying in 1987. Her family was one of the first that we met and they taught me a lot about my new home.  I spent a lot of time at their house at a very formative time in my life. 

I remember Becky telling me about the Monkees when they became popular again. I had no idea what she was talking about and then they became one of the biggest retro revivals of the '80s.  I also remember that she voted for Sinbad the comedian in a mail-in vote for the TV Show Star Search.

At other times I remember Becky helping her Mom a lot with all the kids that stayed at their house and all the neighbors that came by. Even though Becky was only a year older than me she seemed a lot older in her bearing. Sadly I only learned of her passing when my mom read the obituary of her dad, who we all called Mr. Jesse. He was a Maryland State Trooper and I'm still reminded of him and the Roaches when I see a Trooper.

Sweet REBECCA.... You will always be a part of our FAMILY....  Thank you sooooooooooooo much for allowing us to come into your life.... You now are finally at peace.  We will ALWAY's keep you in our hearts...LOVE always Rebecca... Papa and Roni...

Dear Blaine -and your children; the Roach family and all those who were blessed to know Rebecca - we lost our strong and stunning Rebecca, but heaven gained a beautiful angel. 

Rebecca's battle with that nasty "C" word was fast moving and intense; but despite all her body and mind was up against, she blossomed into an even more beautiful woman - outside....and inside. I remember her anxiety over initially losing her hair - very few women can pull it off - but Rebecca did - with EASE. Even without hair and not a stitch of make up, she was exquisite.  As her hair started to come back, all I could think of every time I saw her was how absolutely gorgeous she was. I'm sure I'm not alone, but I used to tell her that she reminded me of Halle Berry. 

As she was feeling better after her first surgery, she started to dabble in modeling. She had always thought it would be fun, but through my conversations with her I learned she never had the confidence.  That was shocking to me. I couldn't believe someone so sweet and as text-book glamorous as she was...  lacked confidence.  It just goes to prove you that you can never judge a book by it's cover.  

I was delighted to share in her excitement as she did first a TV commercial for the Maine Medical Center Cancer Program (the picture you see was taken from that commercial); and then when she did a little photographic modeling after she was signed with Utobia Model & Talent in Portland. There was one conversation in particular that comes back to me now.  As with any life altering event, Rebecca was starting to think about what she wanted to do with her life - after.  She wasn't sure what it was, but she knew that it would be very different from her pre-cancer path.  She wanted to find her own way to make a difference in the world.  And she did.  She made a difference in each of our lives, and a part of her will always be with us. Thank you Rebecca, for making a difference in my life....and for you, I hope that we can all work together to raise awareness and the funds necessary to find a cure.

Like it has already been said by many that Becky will surely be missed but NEVER forgotten!  She has touched so many lives!  Her positive outlook on life has definately impacted many of people! I knew Rebecca as Becky in our high school.  We were in the same graduating class.  She was always a bright shining and beautiful person with a wonderfully warm personality. Blaine and family: I never had the chance to meet this wonderful person named Becky Roach but have heard lovely things about her. And yes, she is one beautiful person. I am so sorry for your loss. My good friend passed away from a short but damn good fight against breast cancer  a year ago just a few hours shy of Becky's passing and I hope that my friend met on her journey to heaven. Rebecca, this is not going to be easy to write, you and I hit it off right away, the first project took us forever, you where a great sales rep, person and friend, after you kidnapped my bobble head I told you that I did not want it back until you could deliver it yourself, I always hoped that I would see you again. I am so glad that we were able to keep in touch throw out the past year in a half. Blaine I never meet you but I heard a lot about you.
