Renault, Richard "Rick" of Scarborough, ME passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on, Wednesday, September 25, 2013.
Rick was born on January 26, 1946, in Hanover, NH. Beloved husband of Sharon (Souza) Renault of 44 years. He was loving father of Shannon Renault Loncoski, father-in-law of Michael Loncoski, and proud grandfather of Cameron Loncoski of Falmouth, ME. Treasured son of Helen (Longe) Renault and the late Marcel Renault of Boynton Beach, FL. Brother of Robert Renault and wife Laura of Boynton Beach, FL., Cheryl (Renault) Brown and her late husband Alden Brown of Pittsfield, NH, and Roger Renault and wife Betty of Lebanon, NH. Rick's in-laws the late Arthur and Lorraine Souza and grandparents-in-law the late Charles and Bella Abreu loved Rick as their own.
Each week Rick looked forward to phone calls from his "son"-in-laws parents Michael and Mary Grace Loncoski and Uncle Edward Loncoski of PA. Rick loved how close they all were and how his family had such a wonderful bond.
Rick was proud to have been able to serve his country as a Marine and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the Vietnam War. After moving his family to Maine in 1985, Rick and wife Sharon worked side by side at their business Reception Unlimited for many years. Rick's last employment was as Electrical Pro at Lowe's. Rick was also a past president of the Scarborough Lions Club.
Among the many medals and honors Rick had received, he was most proud of the Maine Silver Star, the Eagle Cane from the Maine Wood Carvers Association made by Andy Rice, and the quilt awarded by the Quilt of Valor Foundation to veterans who have served in combat zones.
Friends and relatives may visit at Jones, Rich, & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland, ME on Monday, September 30th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM; where funeral prayers will be recited at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, followed by an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, 150 Black Point Rd., Scarborough, ME. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Armed Forces Section, 1461 Broadway, So. Portland, ME 04106.
