Robert Stanwood Dalton (Bob), 82, of Portland, Maine, passed away peacefully after succumbing to illness on Mar. 11, 2022. He was born on Jul. 15, 1939, to William J. and Viola S. Dalton in Winthrop, Mass., where he grew up and met the love of his life, Diane Sawyer Dalton. He was a 1958 graduate of Winthrop High School, attended Northeastern University and proudly served four years in the U. S. Air Force.
He was predeceased by his parents; as well as his son, Kevin S. Dalton; and his brother, W. Bruce Dalton.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane S. Dalton; his daughters and their spouses, Kerry and Mark Daly, and Pamela and Christopher Davis; his daughter-in-law, Merilyn Dalton and Millard Nadeau; his eight beautiful grandchildren; Ian, Kayla, Courtney, and Joseph Daly, CJ, Tucker, and Mackenzie Davis, Andrew and Margaret Dalton; his sisters, Carole Mallonee and Suzanne Dalton; his great-granddaughter Lilian Daly, as well as many nieces, nephews; cousins; and kin.
Bob Dalton was known as an incredibly sweet, humble man who had a heart of gold. He was described by many as a “fine as kind” man, and could often be found spending time at family gatherings or at his grandchildrens’ various events. He had a true love for New England sports & the outdoors - fishing, snowmobiling, bird watching, boating on Casco Bay, or traveling abroad with his wife. He will be missed dearly as he touched the lives of everyone he met. Forever in our hearts, always.
