Rob grew up in Portland and attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Lyman Moore Jr High. He graduated from Deering High School in 1982 where he played basketball, wrestling and was selected for the Class AA All State Football Team.
After high school, Rob worked at Risbara Construction pouring foundations.
Rob proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Monongahela where he was a Hull Technician. He then went to work for his father at Tri-Tank Engineering. In his spare time, he played softball and touch football.
In 1989, he married Altana Orlando. They had one son, Joseph Robert II.
In need of a career change, Rob went to work at Alside Supply as a local driver for 21 years. He liked his job and loved his work brothers.
Fall was Rob’s favorite time of year because that meant football and hunting. Rob also enjoyed camping and looked forward to checking out new campgrounds in Maine and New Hampshire.
Rob has had a long history with cancer. He was first diagnosed in 1999 with Lymphoma. With two recurrences, he had a stem cell transplant in 2002 and then a bone marrow transplant in 2004. After 13 years of remission, he was then diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Rob was predeceased by his parents and brother Jon. Besides his wife and son, Rob is survived by sisters Wanda (Steve) Brissette of Windham, ME; Wendy LeClair of Federal Way, WA; Lynne (Dale) Siulinski of Saco, ME and Donna (Lenny) Cole of Bennett, CO.
Graveside services will be held at New Calvary Cemetery on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life will follow at The Woodfords Club in Portland.
