Sally Coolbroth, formerly of Scarborough, Maine and Hooksett, New Hampshire, passed away on February 10, 2013 after a period of declining health. Born in Portland, Maine on December 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Alice Place. She was predeceased by her husband, Dana L. Coolbroth, Jr., who died in 1981.
Sally grew up in Portland and South Portland and was a graduate of South Portland High School. She was a legal secretary and receptionist at Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson and later, following the family’s relocation to New Hampshire, at Sheehan, Phinney, Bass & Green in Manchester and Portsmouth. Following her retirement, she relocated to Scarborough, where she enjoyed immensely her music and her time with family, neighbors and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister Katherine Hornsby.
She is survived by her four children, Larry Coolbroth and his wife Rebecca of Leesburg, Florida, Frederick Coolbroth and his wife Jeaneen of Meredith, New Hampshire, Donna Dyson and her husband Kevin of Manassas, Virginia, and Lisa Westbay and her companion Rip Holden of Manchester, New Hampshire, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Douglas Place of Fairfield, Ohio and her sister, Marlene Bornheimer and her husband Kenneth of Scarborough.
A period of visitation for Sally will be held this Friday, February 15, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199Woodford St., Portland, ME; where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 16th. Burial will be held in the spring of 2013.
