Scarborough- Sandra Jeffery-Sproul was Promoted to Glory early Saturday morning at Maine Medical Center Portland after a long illness. Sandra was born May 3, 1946 in Linneus, Maine to Vincent and Birdena [Ewings] Tapley She graduated from Hodgdon High School

Sandi met and married Donald Jeffery of Houlton Maine in 1963 where they lived and worked until 1973 when they were called to serve the lord through the Salvation Army. They packed up their five children and moved to Suffern New York to the School for Officers Training. Their first appointment from training in 1975 was to the community of Laconia, New Hampshire, they next moved to Concord,New Hampshire where they welcomed the birth of their sixth child. In 1981 they would change course to the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Cincinnati, Ohio and from there to Youngstown, Ohio. IN 1984 they returned to community service in Glens Falls, New York and then to Auburn, New York, while in Auburn Sandra completed her associates’ degree. In 1991 Life would take a dramatic change when Donald passed away. Sandra would continue to work in the community of Fulton ,New York before taking a position In the Syracuse Area Services for The Salvation Army ,she then went on to Rochester ,NY Area Services then to Buffalo New York where she met and married Major James Sproul in 1999. The newlyweds were then stationed in Sunbury ,PA where they remained until their retirement in 2008. They moved to Lebanon ,PA and then to Scarborough Maine in 2012.

Major Sandi, as all at the Corps called her kept active with the children's programs, Nursing home visitation and attending the Center For Healthy Aging. Her life with Jim was a busy but quiet one they enjoyed Corps activities, Travel, playing cards and watching the Food Network. Sandi enjoyed painting and chair aerobics.

Major Sandi was predeceased in death by her parents Vincent and Birdena Tapley and her loving husband Donald Jeffery.

Sandi is survived her second husband Major James Sproul; her sons, Clayton[Gregory] Jeffery-Nugent of Daytona Beach, Florida, Daniel Jeffery of Daytona Beach Florida, Bard [Joanne] Jeffery of Fulton, New York; her daughters, Stephanie Petti of Nacogdoches, Texas, Lynn Hayes of Glens Falls, New York, Krista La Point of Syracuse, New York; her stepson, James[Laurie] Sproul of Fort Rucker ,Alabama; her stepdaughter, Becki [Eric] Dina of Cleveland ,Ohio; her siblings, Marylou Tapley of Bridgewater, Maine, Brent [Susan] Tapley of Monticello, Maine, Doug Tapley of Hodgdon, Maine, Gary Tapley Linneas, Maine; 17 precious grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday March 16th from 6-8:30 pm A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 17th at 10:30 am with a luncheon to follow. All services will be held at The Salvation Army Citadel Corps 297 Cumberland Avenue Portland, Maine 04101. The officiating officers will be Majors Rapheal and Sandra Jackson Divisional Commanders

In lieu of flowers the family request gifts be made to The Salvation Army Center For Healthy Aging [CFHA] 297 Cumberland Avenue Portland, Maine 04101

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew SANDRA many years ago in HOULTON, ME. when our families were very young. She had so much love to give her children and was always helpful to others. She was a beautiful person and touched many lives with her kindness. Prayers for comfort for her family at this sad time.
