Shirley E. Noyes, 83 CUMBERLAND FORESIDE -- Shirley E. Noyes, 83, passed away on March 31, 2012, at Mercy Hospital. She was born in Portland on Oct. 22, 1928, the daughter of the late Wilmot and Ethel Christianson Adams, graduating from Portland High School in 1946. She grew up in the Portland area with her two sisters and a brother. Shirley began her career in banking working for Casco Bank & Trust where she retired as an assistant to five vice presidents. She then worked part time for Town and Country Credit Union. On Oct. 21, 1950, she married Earle W. Noyes Jr. Her favorite story was that if she waited until her birthday (Oct. 22), she would have been a year older and she might have had more sense and made a different decision. She traveled, making numerous trips to Europe, Bermuda and the Bahamas. She and her husband 'Windy' enjoyed cruising Casco Bay on their Catalina 30 sailboat. She was truly blessed with an amazing daughter, a fine son-in-law and three wonderful grandchildren that enhanced her life beyond any measure. Her greatest interest and love was seeing her grandchildren grow up and attending many of their activities. She was predeceased by her precious daughter, Deborah Kroot; and her two sisters, Dorothy McVey and Marilyn Wasgatt. Her friend Adelaide will have to find a new bridge player. Survivors include her husband, Earle W. Noyes Jr. of Cumberland Foreside; a brother, Donald Adams and his wife Patricia of West Hartford, Conn.; her son-in-law, Brian Kroot of Cumberland Foreside; and her three grandchildren, Jason, Travis and Alexis. Memorial services will be private. Please visit for further information and to sign Shirley's guestbook. Arrangements are by Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Jimmy Fund Dana Farber Cancer Institute P.O. Box 849168 Boston, Massachusetts 02284-9168
