Susan Adamen-Beck

Harrison, ME – Susan E. Adamen-Beck, 59, of Harrison finished her adventure on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at her home with her loving husband by her side.

Susan was born in Lewiston, ME on March 7, 1951, a birthday she shared with her husband Bryan. She was the daughter of the late John and Miriam (Roderick) Adamen. She attended school in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School as a member of the graduating class of 1969. She then went on to graduate from nursing school at Central Maine General Hospital in 1972.

Susan’s caring and helpful attitude benefited her patients during her professional career; which included time at Bridgton Hospital, Brighton Medical Center in Portland, Vencor, Chartwell and several other home health care agencies.

Susan married her husband Bryan on October 5, 1996. One month later she was diagnosed with an incurable multiple myeloma. Susan had a wonderful outlook even under such circumstances. Susan’s spirituality touched many people during her journey. She considered this her “little gift”. It was the hand that she was dealt so she decided to play. This little gift allowed her to travel to places she wouldn’t have traveled to and meet people she would have never meet and for that she was also thankful.

Her greatest passion was her family. She loved spending time with them every chance she had. She also loved to cook; she was famous for all Lithuanian cooking and especially Lithuanian Kubaska. Susan also enjoyed working on stainglass, golfing and spending time with Bryan at their Florida home and in Booth Bay Harbor.

Friends and family all loved her sense of humor and her willingness to put others first and help out in whatever way she could. Susan was always giving of herself without expecting anything in return.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Bryan, her two sons Adam Goselin and his wife Jennifer and Aaron Goselin and his wife Beth Scott Goselin both of Harrison, her daughter Andrea Patch and her husband Dan of Sebago, her step daughter Samantha Previs and her husband Michael of Fairfax, VT and her step daughter Evan Beck and her companion Peter Twachtman of South Portland. She also leaves seven grandchildren as well as her sister Brenda Carland and her husband Chris of Scarborough and several nieces and nephews. She was also the step mother of the late Ethan Beck who passed away in 1998.

Susan’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kurt Ebraham and all the doctors at Maine Medical Center as well as the nursing unit in the Gibson Pavilion. They also are thankful to the staff of the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine and the staff of Hospice of Southern Maine for their contributions to her care.

At her request there are no services.
