

He was born on Sept. 15, 1925, in East Palestine, Ohio, the son of the late Max and Emma (Denton) Shaffernocker. He graduated from Ohio State University and was a member of the TKE Fraternity.
Wayne remained active in the Ohio State Alumni Association. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for 57 years and participated in the choir, was a soloist and served on the Church Council.
Wayne was a physicist for GE in Cincinnati, Ohio and was also active in the Elfun Society. He also was a Mason City Councilor from 1961-1965.
In his spare time he was an avid tennis player and a golfer and a fan of both.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Maizie Argondizza of Portland; his two children, Lynn Kelley and her husband Ed of Mason, Ohio, and Beth Anders-Shaffer of Cincinnati, Ohio; his step-children, Alan Argondizza and his wife Rose Bryant of Exeter, N.H., Andrew Argondizza and his fiance Tracy Moore of Portland, Michael Argondizza of Portland, and Mathew Argondizza of Miami Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy Morella of Ohio. He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy Bennett in 2002; and his siblings, Ed Shaffernocker and Betty Hays.
