Zartarina Artinyan

Mrs. Artinyan was born April 14, 1914, the youngest of four daughters, to Arsak and Katik Ohanyan (Vartanyan) in Uskudar, Turkey. She married Antranik Artinyan on April 16, 1944 in Istanbul, Turkey. Zatarina came to the US with her family as an immigrant with assistance from her sister, Rakel, on November 10, 1968. She was an exceptional seamstress, and worked at Sanford Dress Co and later retired from Healhtex in 1977. For many years after her retirement, she was active and designed clothes for herself and her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Antranik, three sisters Rakel Tevanian, Arsaluls Buyukayna and Ankinee Gevrekyan, and her daughter in law, Diane Artinyan of Belvidere New Jersey.

Zartarina is survived by her son Arman Artinyan and his wife Jeanne of Portland Maine, her son Arto Artinyan of Belvidere, New Jersey, grandchildren Sonya Artinyan and husband Mark Ingraham, Tanya Artinyan Davis and her husband Christopher, Tara Artinyan, Sara Artinyan Roy and her husband Richard, and Kayla Artinyan all of Portland, Anthony Artinyan and his wife Rachael, Justin Artinyan, all of Pennsylvania and Sean Artinyan of New Jersey, and a great-granddaughter Isabella Rose Davis of Portland.

Graveside services will be held 11a.m. Wednesday September 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Cemetery Biddeford.

Arrangements are being handled by the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland.
