Portland – Zelda Serena Wilcox, 84, of Gorham, beloved wife of George Wilcox, passed away on January 1, 2019 at Maine Medical Center. She was born on November 18, 1934 the daughter of Simon and Grace (Little) Anderson in Woodland Maine. She worked for the Westbrook School Nutrition program for 26 years and was a member of the Emmanuel Assembly of God Church in Portland.
Zelda was a warm and caring person who could befriend anyone. You could find comfort in her voice and rationale in her counsel. Mostly, she listened. Zelda always found the good in people. She was a selfless person who always put family and friends first. Her church family was also an important part of her life. Specifically, time spent working with the Ladies Mission Group. Zelda enjoyed spending time on shopping trips with her daughters and watching her favorite cooking shows. She always looked forward to the family reunions up to “the county” on the 4th of July. More than anything, she loved her family.
She was the youngest of 15 children and has two surviving brothers; Elbridge Anderson of Pa., Merrill and wife Delila Anderson of Houlton.
Zelda leaves her loving husband George. They would have been married 66 years on February 7th. They had five children: Patricia and her husband Gary Hatch of Limington, Shirlene and her husband Tony Davis of Buxton, Dean and his wife Carol Wilcox of Westbrook, Cynthia and her husband Roland Arsenault of Gorham, Larry and his wife Wendy Wilcox of Westbrook. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jason and his wife Lisa Hatch of Sebago, Timothy Hatch of Standish, Lisa and her husband Shaun McIntyre of Connecticut, Marc and his wife Nicole Arsenault of Gorham, Sarah Wilcox and Matthew Wilcox of Portland, Katelyn and her husband Devin Tapley of Limington, and Kelsey Wilcox of Windham; and nine great-grandchildren Cooper Hatch, Chloe Hatch, Anthony, Brady, Cadyn, Audrey Arsenault, Evan McIntyre, Morgan Geis, Kynslee Tapley, (with a baby sister on the way).
