Adam Robert Carl Gretzinger died on November 19, 2024, at home in Beaverton, OR. He was 42 years old and is survived by his husband Ryan Sager and their three dogs, parents Chris & Laurie, mother Gloria, sisters Leah, Lacey, & Sarah, beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunt & uncles, and many dear friends.
Adam was born February 22, 1982, in Salem, Oregon, a member of the Athabascan people of Alaska. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Oregon State University in 2004. He was a successful and awarded student in high school and college. Adam was incredibly smart and tech savvy and had a thriving career. At the time of his passing, he worked for Intel as an Infrastructure and DevOps Architect for almost 15 years. Adam was everyone’s go-to call if they needed help with anything technical or electronic - and he was always happy to help and would make sure to figure things out for his family and friends, no matter how much time it took out of his day.
Adam was an avid lover of the outdoors. He hiked whenever possible and spent time at his cabin with friends (and pups) at Triangle Recreation Camp, where he served on the board - dedicated to conservation and preservation. He loved being in the beautiful forests of the PNW and among people who loved nature as much as he did.
Adam loved politics and was committed to progressive causes that served the underdog. He supported bills and candidates through volunteering, activism, and donations, and never shied away from sharing his opinion. He was also very active at home as a member and leader of the neighborhood homeowner association. In fact, just days before his passing neighbors shared their gratitude for Adam blowing their leaves for them.
Adam will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving and supportive husband, son, brother, nephew, and friend whose greatest joy in life was to be helpful to others. He will also be remembered by his community as a generous, active, and progressive-thinking advocate for the underdog.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Adam’s honor to Oregon Dog Rescue. A Celebration of Life will be held at Vendetta at 4306 N Williams Ave, Portland, OR on Saturday, December 7th from 12:00-2:00 PM. (Please note minors are not allowed in this venue.)
