When she was just a baby, her mother moved her and the rest of her siblings to Portland in 1943 to rejoin her father as he had moved here to work in the Kaiser Shipyard. She attended Sitton, Builds Lake and Chapman elementary Schools. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1961. She was so happy to get together with old classmates at her 50th reunion in 2011.
In 1963, she met her future husband, Jesse Gonzales. At first, she didn't like him. But he kept pursuing her until he wore her down. Then it was on!!! They dated for several years and he asked for her hand in marriage. That was a big "YES."
They got married on October 7, 1967 in Vancouver, Washington. Their first child of that union was born on July 20, 1968. And everyone knows who that was; Felicia Christina. She was the most beautiful baby. And the love of her mom and dad's lives. It was a good thing that she was first, because 5 brothers came after her. Next to her came Manuelito, Ricardo, Fernando, Demingo, Pedro, and adopted daughter, Stacy. And as we all know: she was the best MOTHER EVER!!! As many kids that she had of her own, she ALWAYS had friends and neighbor kids too. The more the merrier.
While raising her children, she worked at a Cannery, as well as the United States Postal Service and Emanuel Hospital. She retired from Emanuel in 2009. She was an Operating Room Assistant.
Everybody loved Addie. Very conscientious, Hard- working, and a great Co-worker. There she met her 2nd adopted child, a son, Naren Sharma. He absolutely loved and adored Adelaide. When she retired, they all were sad to see her go. She made friends easily and was a good friend to many. You never heard her put down anyone or gossip about anyone. And there was nothing anyone could say bad about her. To know Addie was to love her. And at the end of every call was " luh you." Oh how we wish we could hear that now.
In 2003, she lost the love of her life, her husband, Jesse. She was very sad at that time, but she had her faith in God and her family to see her through. She was a God fearing woman all of her life. Her belief was strong and she stood in the word. Her appointment for the Mothers Board was on January 16, 2022, at Corner Stone Community C.O.G.I.C. She was also Sergeant At arms for C.W.C (Christian Women's Council) She was always ready to throw down her gavel. ORDER!!!
She was always game and ready for places and outings with her family and extended family and friends. She loved playing Bingo with her friends and playing TONK. She had several nicknames: Addie, Little Atts, Sweet Baby Atts and " At-Lee" as Jesse would call her. And she answered to them all.
She was a " wordsmith" and very knowledgeable. Smart as a whip. She loved old movies and Sci- Fi. She saw every Harry Potter movie and owned several of the books. Loved to read. When her kids were little and a black and white movie came on, they would holler " Mama, your movie is on. " And she was quick to let you know that she was #1 in the nation on Candy Crush. #1. The Best !!! Numero Uno.Very competitive. We're going to miss her so much.
