Al joined the Merchant Marines at the age of fifteen and was with them for approximately eight years. He married Janet K. Hinton in 1950 and they were married for 60 years.
Al worked as a Longshoremen and crane operator for thirty-five years. He loved searching for collectibles and owned a unique neighborhood restaurant to display his treasures and share his culinary skills. His story telling was captivating and enjoyed by everyone.
Al was a strong man in all phases and was loved by all who knew him and will be missed for all time. He will particularly be missed by his wife Janet and his daughter Vickie Ankeney, 2 granddaughters and 1 great-grandson.
Services will be Monday, November 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memorial Gardens Chapel. There will be a time of visitation on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, also at the funeral home. Arrangements under the direction of Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Portland, OR.
