in 1967.
Allen retired in 2014 from a career in the beverage industry where he started at entry-level, working his way up to eventually earning “salesman of the year.”
Allen was always the loudest fan at his daughters’ sporting events. He was known to speak his mind and openly share his opinions. He loved visiting with family, hanging out with friends, and was often the life of the party.
His love of the Oregon Coast always brought him back to the Garibaldi area, where he could enjoy some of his favorite activities, such as fishing and camping. He also loved boating, gardening, golfing, and cooking, as well as watching Trail Blazers and Seahawks games.
He will be remembered as someone that was ambitious, determined, helpful, and a get-it-done kind of guy.
Allen is survived by daughters, Wendi (Darin) Sullivan and Bev Hartel (Laura Paul); grandchildren, Kelsie (Jeffery), Kyle (Lisa), and Kaylee (Larry); and brothers, Don (Donna) Hartel, Glenn (Joanne) Hartel, and Fred (Chris) Hartel.
Allen’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Farmington Square Gresham and Bristol Hospice.
