Allen Dewitt Knapp III, age 65, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from cancer that was very recently diagnosed. Allen was born on October 5, 1956 in Pendleton, Oregon to Allen Jr. and Mary Knapp. He lived in Pilot Rock, Oregon for a short time. He then moved to Arkansas and Mansfield Ohio, where he lived for a few years. At five, he moved to Portland Oregon where he attended kindergarten at Grout grade school in SE Portland. He then spent the rest of his school years in NE Portland attending Glenhaven grade school and Madison High School where he graduated in the class of 1975. He was a pitcher on his little league baseball team and on the JV baseball team at Madison. He had many lifelong friends and he kept in touch with them throughout his life.
Allen or “Trey” as his family affectionately referred to him as, was a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and Pacific Maritime Association as well as a Western Conference of Teamster Local Union, as a truck driver. Trey loved the water, besides working on the water he also lived in a floating home. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching Nascar and NHRA car races.
Trey is survived by the love of his life, Cynthia Knapp; mother Mary Schippers; sister Sharee Bullard; daughter Nicole Schappell; step-siblings Bev Verbanic, Barbara Geiring, Bob Schippers and Ken Schippers; grand-children Lilyana Wilkinson, Layla Wilkinson and soon to be grandson Lincoln Allen.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Trey on Saturday October 1st, 2022, 2pm at Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 NE Thompson St., Portland OR 97213
