Lois was born in Cutler City, Oregon, the youngest of 5 children. Married in 1950 in Newberg, Oregon to Dorwin Ashby. They met while working at a cannery in Newberg. Dorwin and Lois were married 68 years when he passed away.
Lois died November 8, 2019 at 5:42 pm in her apartment at Powell Valley Assisted Living. Her 3 children were all present at her passing. Lois is survived by her 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Lois wore many hats through the years (literally and figuratively). She worked at Nabisco, Hirsch-Weis (as a seamstress), babysitting in her home, laundry at Sunny Vista Nursing Home, Janitor at Family Worship Center with her husband, Janitor at Tharco and Rivershore Restaurant in Oregon City.
Lois enjoyed using her talents for God; sewing costumes for church programs, clothing for missionaries and friends, planning weddings as well as flower arranging, baking and decorating the cake. She started a Wednesday meal for the school children here for Evangel Christian School in 1983. She felt that the children should have at least one hot lunch during the week, so she made it happen. She was involved in the WM’s flannelgraph group making backgrounds for missionaries. Lois took this verse to heart “Whatever your hand findeth to do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
