Alvin P. Griggs was born in Denver, Colorado, to Alvin H. Baker and Anna Maye Freeland Baker. He moved to Oregon with his mother and step-father Paul A. Griggs in 1943. Alvin served 3 years in the military during Korea, then attended Lewis and Clark College graduating with a degree in history, and a minor in education. He worked for the State Department of Human Resources for 30 years until his retirement. Alvin will be remembered as an avid reader, a collector of all sorts of things, and someone that really did enjoy life until the end. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marjorie "Mardelle" Griggs, son Alec Griggs and daughter Elizabeth Griggs.
