Andreas Prince Ke'Akamai Jones-Dixon

Andreas Prince Ke’Akamai Jones-Dixon was born on September 8, 1991 to Vincent Earl Jones Sr. and Kimberely A. Dixon-McCleary in Portland, Oregon. He came into this world with some hesitation, keeping his mother in suspenseful labor for almost 12 hours and announcing with a loud cry he was here to conquer the world. His name Andreas means courageous and you who know him understand the truth of that. His approach to life was fearless. His middle name Prince speaks for itself, as he is a descendent of the great Hawaiian warrior King Kamehameha and Ke’Akamai means “the intelligent one” which Andreas displayed throughout his educational endeavors often finishing assignments before others; and even completing high school before his classmates and helping his siblings and mother with their own math homework.

Andreas’ generous nature was often displayed in a multitude of ways. He would offer you words of encouragement and advisement, a plate of food (not that he necessarily cooked it) but he would absolutely offer up whatever was around : ) He was huge at helping, willing to give a hand at a moment’s notice using his extraordinary ability to organize even the most God-forsaken messes. Maybe that is something to take note of about him: whether dealing with people or things he didn’t see you just from your current state of being…he saw you from the great end result to come. His humor was genuine and infectious—your day may have begun one way but he could find a way just in him being himself to turn your frown around and offer up some type of hope for your situation.

Andreas is affectionately called “my coconut” by his mom or “mama” as he said it best. Many saw him as having a rough exterior but to her she knew the sweet insides. His most recent weeks were spent beginning the day praising the Lord with music like “I give myself away” and often saying “Hey Mama, what’s the name of that song that goes like…..” Andreas will be remembered by many for a variety of things but for sure his smile, huge heart and generosity will ring true to all. Andreas was a current day “King David” in that there are plenty of things that he has done that would be considered wrong by our standards or beliefs, yet he truly was a man after God’s own heart.

Psalm 51 “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your loving-kindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me… (and down in verse 10 he says) Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
