Angelika was born in Selm, Germany, in 1942. Angelika met her future husband, Jeff Gislason, in Frankfurt, Germany, while she was working for the Chase Manhattan Bank and Jeff was serving in the U.S. Army. They were married in June 1974 and spent the next seven years in Seattle. After Jeff completed his studies at the University of Washington in 1981, they moved to Lewiston, Idaho. In 1984, they settled down in Beaverton, Oregon, where Jeff began working at the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, and Angelika became a full-time homemaker.
Angelika is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff, her loving son, Eric Gislason, of Beaverton, and her two wonderful grandchildren, Alexander and Maxwell, who affectionately called her their “Oma,” or German grandmother.
Angelika and Jeff were passionate world travelers and were able to visit all seven continents. Angelika loved cats and dogs, flower gardening, trips to the Oregon coast, camping, backpacking, hiking, and walking in the local parks. She was a longtime member of Portland’s German American Society and the Liedertafel Harmonie, a German language choral group. Angelika’s warm smile and sunny disposition will be missed by all who knew her.
No public services are planned.
