Holland, Anne Maria 89 05/03/1921 09/19/2010 Anne was born May 3, 1921, to Willard and Myra Glassman in Seattle, where she grew up with her brothers, James and Eugene, on Seattle's famed Queen Anne Hill. Anne attended Queen Anne High School, and business school in Seattle. Her business background led her to a profession as a school secretary for 26 years in the David Douglas School District. While in Seattle, Anne met the love of her life, Ted Holland. Ted and Anne relocated to Portland July 4, 1950, with sons John and Tom in tow. They settled in the Gateway district of Portland. Anne and Ted attended Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church. Anne spent her first few years in Portland as a loving homemaker and mother. As the boys grew older, Anne took a job with the school district as an office secretary. Most of her 26 years of service were at North Powellhurst Elementary School, where she was loved and made many lifelong friends. Anne and Ted enjoyed vacationing in Canada. The Banff and Lake Louise areas were favorites, as were trips to Victoria, B.C., the site of their honeymoon in 1944. Anne also had many stories to tell of her travels to Europe with her younger brother, James "Scoot" Glassman, and close friends from school. After her retirement, Anne stayed very busy with church functions, lunches with her school staff buddies, and being a great wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Following Ted's passing in 2008, Anne moved to the Royal Anne Assisted Living Home at CherryWood Village. She spent her last two years at CherryWood making new friends and putting a smile on the faces of everyone she knew! Anne passed away from medical complications. She put up a good fight, but lost her battle Sept. 19, 2010. Anne is survived by her brother, James "Scoot" Glassman of Austin, Texas; sons, John and his wife, Marilyn of Sunriver; and Tom and his wife, Vicki of Gresham; grandsons, Brian and his wife, Summer of Bend; Kevin and his wife, Danielle of Bend; and Jeff Santell of Portland; granddaughter, Gina Santell of Portland; and two great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters in Bend.
