Anthoula Floretta Shadel

Anthoula Floretta Shadel was born March 15th, 1945 in Bolos Greece. Her parents were Stergios and Kiki Arkoumanis. She had a younger brother, Leontios Arrkoumanis.

She attended Primary and secondary School in Thessaloniki Greece, where she finished top of her class. She then attended the French academy in Thessaloniki, also achieving top honors. She then met her husband Richard and they had a son, Roger. After some time spent living in Turkey she emigrated to America with her new family, becoming a US citizen and settling in Portland Oregon in 1970. After some time spent in retail she owned and ran the Souvlaki Stop Restaurant after which she began investing in real estate.

She had an extremely kind and loving spirit, always seeing the best in people and being involved in several civic organizations including The Lions Club. She also had a deep love for animals and children.

She is survived by her son, Roger Shadel, daughter-in-law, Erica Roslund, brother Leontios Arkoumanis, his wife Katina and their son Stergios.

A funeral service for Anthoula will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 at12:00 PM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3131 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97232. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at 2:00 PM at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary & Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR 97225.
