Anton "Tony" Schneider, age 94, died on Sunday, August 14th, surrounded by his loving family at his home in SE Portland. Tony was born and raised in Kintyre, North Dakota, the son of Sebastian and Katherine (Wolf) Schneider, and the third of 12 children. Anton served in the CCC's in the 30's, transitioning to service in the U.S. Army during WW11. He had wonderful stories about his adventures in those days. Even when things were difficult, Tony had an upbeat and humorous disposition, and could find the bright side of most any situation. He was well liked and made friends wherever he went. Tony and family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1953, where he lived until his death. Like many of his generation, he believed in living a life of integrity and hard work. He was an expert machinist, and could fix just about anything that needed it. Tony was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a selfless provider and always put family first. We love and miss you, Dad (Gramps). He leaves his wife of 72 years, Mary (Fettig), as well as their five children: Tony Jr., Helen, Shirley, Thomas, and Robert; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
